One interesting thing I've found out in iTunes though: on the Mac you need to enter the full URL of the stream inc protocol/IP/Port/Filename (ie ) whereas for the same stream to work under the Windows version of iTunes you have to give it just protocol/IP (possibly Port number as well, can't remember offhand - give it a try), but if you tell it to look for the specific playlist name it sits there doing nothing. Just for sillyness (and for example) I enabled iTunes Music Sharing (rendezvous) on the PC, logged into it from iTunes on the Mac and used NiceCast to stream the playlist back to iTunes on the PC.

I'm presuming the password field is to allow you to remotely administer the server, but not 100% sure, hence me asking here.Īnybody else had any success getting NiceCast to stream via shoutcast? If I can get this up n running it'll be a bonus coz it works great with absolutely any app that plays out audio and any audio device/input available to the Mac the server's running on. I've hunted around the winamp site for anywhere I need to register a server, but nothing seems instantly (or even not-so-instantly) obvious. I've tried just making up a password, but nope. What exactly do I need to enter as a password. The one thing (and perhaps most obvious thing) I can think of is the password field. I've also added a rule to OS X's built-in firewall to allow for traffic to/from the server on port 8000.Īll this works just peachy with a NiceCast stream, as I mentioned, but if I try to run a Shoutcast stream I receive the error "Unknown Host" and the server seems to sit in a perpetual state of retrying the connection. I've configured my Router's built-in firewall to allow traffic in/out on Port 8000 (I'm presuming port 8000 is the default for Shoutcast, although if this is the first obvious mistake, let me know right now as I can reconfig no probs - I've seen port number 666 bandied about a bit on these forums) and also set up port forwarding to my local machine on the LAN (set it up with a static IP in the same range as the router so no DHCP probs causing the fault). There is a built-in option to run a Shoutcast server (plus Icecast and Live365 servers), however the support seems rather lacking for these additional server options. I've successfully managed to stream using NiceCast's built-in defult server - the streams list on but I've since being having a play to try and configure it for use with Shoutcast.

Hi, I've recently installed and set up NiceCast v1.7.2 on OS X 10.3.8.
